NEC Classic Car Show 2009

The stands of the UK's three main Citroen Clubs - the CCC, 2cvgb and the Traction Owner's Club will undoubtedly be some of the most popular at this year's NEC Classic Car Show, between the 13th and 15th of November.

To help us help them celebrate their 90th Birthday, Citroen are bringing some special guests from Paris - four very special concept cars from the Conservatoire collection.

None of the four cars - a TPV, the Coccinelle, the C60 and the Projet L - have ever visited the UK, although one of the other handful of surviving TPVs did visit the 2cv World Meeting when 2cvgb hosted it in 2005.

For more details on the show, please click here.

News, Events and More from the Club

TPV

From the late '30s, the TPV - of course - became the immortal 2cv. If World War 2 hadn't intervened, this would have been the production car - and it's perhaps a fortunate thing that a few more years development were permitted...

Coccinelle

Built in the mid '50s, the Coccinelle was an early concept for a car to fit between the 2cv and the DS. A few more years elapsed before we saw the reality - the 1961 Ami 6.

C60

In the early '60s, the Ami 6 was France's best selling car. The success encouraged Citroen to further fill the gaps in their range - this time between Ami & DS. The C60 was one suggested result. When it reached the showroom, it was the GS.

Projet L

The closest of the four to the production car which resulted - both in form and in time - the Projet L appeared as the DS replacement, the CX.

The CCC is very proud to welcome, with our friends from 2cvgb & the TOC, these four superb concepts. Perhaps, to celebrate the 125th anniversary, we'll be welcoming this year's Frankfurt concept car, the REVOLTe?
